Slavery in America

Contrary to popular belief slavery is alive and well. And if you don't believe me... I plan to give you more information than just a statement. What the bigger message is... is that liberty is something worth fighting for and the system we call our government, in the form of our system of justice specifically, has been corrupted to the point that slavery is once again acceptable.

Slavery is indeed a modern day business. Yet the system that supposedly "protects" us from the evils of the world, like slavery, is actually facilitating the criminal behavior and in many cases profiting from it. It is not simply a necessary evil that we've accepted but something that needs to be examined in detail.

Ignorance is truly the enemy of liberty. Ignoring the truth that the system doesn't battle against it, but actually helps support it, isn't something that most even want to hear, let alone contemplate. But it certainly is something that is being used against the most vulnerable... children.

It isn't a surprise that one of the crimes brought forth in the recent Wikileaks document release, and subsequently has quickly disappeared from the headline,s was a story dealing with human trafficking. DynCorp. a long time defence contractor, who has been caught numerous times... was caught supplying young boys to Afghan Police.

Wikileaks: Texas Company helped Pimp little boys to stoned Afghan Cops

This isn't new... but it's a perfect example of the system protecting the criminals and accepting things such as slavery. This is another mechanism of control. Many of the supposed leaders, politicians and administrators have succumb to their weaknesses and in one form or another exposed themselves to these scandals. It is no surprise how quickly these admissions are swept under the rug.

What may be of interest is that the US Constitution may provide a solution to the problem. The 7th Amendment of the Bill of Rights discusses the role of the jury and common law. Although our legal system has redefined common law and buried justice in code and statutes. If we were, as a society, to re-embrace the idea set forth in the 7th Amendment as it was originally intended, people who profited from slavery would at the least be subject to tort under common law. Needless to say, the profit motive would quickly disappear.

This is yet but one more example of how the government, grown into a Leviathan, a monster, supposedly to serve us, has turned into our greatest nemesis. As long as we ignore it and only acknowledge our good intentions we only succeed in continuing to feed it.
